Apple Turnovers

Here's a classic French pastry using frozen puff pastry. My husband informed me after making these that he wants these included from now on for his Father's Day Breakfast Spread. So make these for a special breakfast or for dessert! They are SO much better than anything you buy at the store!

1 TBS butter
2 apples (such as honeycrisp, grannysmith) peeled, cored, and diced
1/4 tsp salt
1 TBS sugar
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1 large egg
1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed

-Preheat oven to 425
-Combine butter, apples, cinnamon in skillet and cook until softened about 4 minutes. Add 1 TBS sugar and 1/4 tsp salt. Remove from heat and set aside.
-Roll out puff pastry making rectangle a little bigger, then cut into four equal rectangles. Combine egg with 2 TBS water to make an egg wash. Brush (or just use finger) edges of each pastry with egg wash.
-Spread cooked apples over half of long side of each rectangle, but not over egg wash border. Fold pastry over apple mix and seal edges tightly. Transfer to 11x17 baking sheet.
-Brush tops with egg wash and sprinkle each with 1/4 tsp sugar.
-Bake 16 minutes until puffed and golden.

  1. I happened to have some puff pastry in the freezer - so I made these this morning. They're super easy and yummy! Thanks!
